DS-gluten free love a food fair!
Posted on the 25/01/2012 by
DS-gluten free jump at the chance to meet our customers face to face and see people try our tasty gluten free foods. Last year we travelled all over the UK to attend a number of gluten free food fairs. Amongst many we visited York, Penrith, Melksham and Ellesmere Port and the good news is this year will be no different!
The regular gluten free events are hosted by Coeliac UK, the charity who make it their mission to raise awareness of coeliac disease. These events occur across the country, we’ve listed the dates and locations of the ones we’ll be attending up to May, so you can find your nearest gluten free food fair! If you’ve never been to an event or maybe you’re a regular attendee and you’d like to suggest which DS-gluten free foods you’d like to sample next time, please comment below.

could you also consider vegetarian dishes as the pasta one sounds lovely, then you go and stick ham in it, so not good for your vegetarian coeliacs which more and more people are these days - 14:35:14

I too would welcome a range of non-meat and fish meals - I'm vegetarian (and no, fish are not vegetables!) and would love to stock up my freezer with some standby meal options when time is tight. I think that this might also get over some of the religious objections to meat/fish, too, and open up your market considerably. - 16:14:18

Are there any up coming events in Leicestershire please? - 16:18:43
Malcolm Bowman says
Sorry to say your crackers are not as nice as their predecessors - and the packaging is poor ; most of the last lot were broken. A shame, because most of your products are really great. - 16:40:23

I would love to attend a G Free food event - I live in the Farnham Surrey area and would attend the proposed Camberley one.Best wishes for success - so easy to buy gluten free here compared with Crete!

Now that you sell some of your products in the Republic of Ireland, Maybe you would consider dong a fair here. Shops here are bad in general for stocking gluten free foods, especially frozen foods and especially in the mid-west in Limerick, Tipperary and cork etc. Dublin gets everything and we are forgotten about. This is pure madness as statistics show that the mid-west of Ireland has more coeliacs than the others. So please please consider it. - 16:43:28

I would love to try the tortellini but have not seen it in any of the 4 large Sainsburys i use. Also i find that lots of the 'ready made pies' (not just DS, Genuis are extremely guilty) have a very low meat content, could this be improved?? - 21:58:39

Your steak pies and cheese flan were lovely. Please bring them back, even if it's only every now and again. I, for one, would stock my freezer. It would be fantastic for coeliacs in this area of the northwest, near to Blackburn/Preston/Chorley/Burnley if you could arrange a visit. I'm sure you would get a warm, appreciative welcome.
While I have the chance, I would like to thank and congratulate you for being the only establishment of glutenfree products I totally trust Is there any chance of bringing back your delicious ricecakes without sesame? Please. I'm fed up with crisps, ricecakes always hit the spot with me.
Regards,
Marie

I would love to try your lasagne and new tortellini dishes but see thet they are only available at Sainsburys. However, when I look in Sainsburys all I ever see are your cornish pasties and pies, which are very tasty, but I can NEVER find ready meals. I use to buy the pasta dishes at Asda - some 15 miles away - but now can never find them in the store. It is very frustrating !! - 12:13:08

I really enjoy your loaves, Ciabatta Rolls and the Lunch Rolls too. Have now managed to find pastry in Sainsbury's at Salisbury. My usual retailer is Waitrose at Gillingham (Dorset) but they do not carry any frozen products. I would be very interested to know of any Food Fairs in Southern England this year. - 17:07:18

I'd welcome some dairy/soya free meals, as I cannot eat any of your products because I'm intolerant to dairy/soya as well as wheat. This means I have to make most of what I eat which can be very time consuming. I'm sure there must be plenty of other people like me that would love to be able to buy ready made meals. - 23:37:39

Thanks to everyone who commented, we've had such a great response to this blog. Dates and locations of further gluten free food fairs will be posted in March/April time, we're still waiting to confirm some details with Coeliac UK. Keep the suggestions for locations coming though guys, we do host our own events about 5 times a year so it's great to hear what places you'd like us to visit. @Linda thank you for the invite! If you could email the details to info@dsglutenfree.co.uk we can see if a representative from DS is free for the day :) - 11:25:13
