Hello readers!

My name is Becky and I work in the Customer Services team here at Dietary Specials, the gluten and wheat free food providers! My colleagues Jayne and Zoe recently attended the food fair in Penrith along with our Events Manager Carol Varley. We thought we would share with you the feedback we obtained from the public that attended the event and how much our team enjoyed the day.

Why did we go the food fair?
Jayne: “I really like going mainly to meet customers face to face. It also really tests my knowledge to see whether I can answer the public’s questions about gluten free food”
Zoe: “I think the food fairs are the best way to become more familiar with the problems that Coeliac sufferers experience on a day to day basis that we don’t find out from calls”

What did you find interesting about the day?
Zoe: “Speaking and listening to the public, it was very interesting to hear about the different problems Coeliac’s face. It was also useful to see the other gluten and wheat free food suppliers and what they have to offer those who suffer food allergies.”
Jayne: “I was surprised by the amount of children that were there who were very eager to learn about what they could eat and what was suitable for them”

Were there any common questions?
Jayne: “Mostly about the new Dietary Specials fresh bread and where it was available (you can buy it from Asda), also a lot of availability questions about the products and which supermarkets supplied what.”
Zoe: “I received a mixture of questions; there were a lot of people there so it was great to see such a good turn out.”

What samples did we give out?
Zoe: Everyone got to try our new Dietary Specials fresh gluten free loaves, which are available in White and Multi-seeded varieties. We also sampled the Trufree wheat and gluten free Mince Pies, which everyone thought were delicious!
Jayne: We also conducted a trial between two different gluten free chocolate cakes and everyone was happy to get involved and really helpful!

What was your overall opinion of the Food Fair?
Zoe: “It was a really productive day and I really enjoyed meeting the public. A gluten and wheat free diet can be really restricting and it’s really useful for us as a company to go to these events and meet our customers.
Jayne: “Yes I think food fairs are an absolute must for anyone that is coeliac or anyone that suffers with a food allergy. It can be quite daunting for people at first when they have to restrict their diet. It was a great turn out at Penrith so people know that they are not on their own when they see how many people are at these events”.

What’s your feedback?
As you can see readers our colleagues that attended the event found it really useful and we hope that you enjoyed hearing our comments. Please feel free to contribute your views on any of the events or food fairs that you have been to, we would be really interested to hear your feedback
