About Nutrition Point
Dietary Specials is a Nutrition Point brand. Nutrition Point are a UK company who were established in 1998 to market and distribute wheat free and gluten free products. The current MD and founder Chris Hook was frustrated by the lack of choice and the absence of great tasting food for his wife and son, who both have a wheat intolerance. He was determined to improve the choice and quality of products for people with special dietary requirements - in particular coeliac disease, wheat intolerance and dermatitus herpetiformis.
In 2002, Nutrition Point became part of the Dr Schär group and assumed responsibility for the distribution of Schär gluten free and wheat free products in the UK and Ireland. Dr Schär have been established for over 25 years and are the European market leader in gluten free and wheat free foods. The union with Nutrition Point was hailed as the perfect fit as the two companies shared the same vision of developing innovative, high quality products.
In 2006, Dr Schär further strengthened the consumer offering across Europe by acquiring the whole coeliac business unit from Numico. This acquisition means that Nutrition Point are now responsible for the distribution of the Glutafin and Trufree brands throughout the UK and Ireland.
